A Bit of The East on Monte Amiata

The Merigar community, born in Arcidosso in 1981, is one of the West’s first to practice Dzogchen, one of the oldest teachings of the Tibetan spiritual tradition.
In this territory, also called Piccolo Tibet (“Little Tibet”), there are various structures: the first of which being the octagonal-shaped Temple of Deep Contemplation. Upon entering, you will be impressed with the loud colors of the typically Tibetan paintings, not to mention the large window overlooking the valley bursting with vegetation and colors.
The Great Stupa, a white and gold structure immersed in the green of the surrounding nature, is a memorial shrine representing Buddha’s enlightenment.
The House of Zhi which houses the library, rich in texts written in Tibetan, Italian and English, and the Mandala Hall. Finally, the Golden House which houses a gift shop.
Merigar literally means "fire mountain residence ", symbolically "residence of energy ". That’s what makes this little corner of the Maremma, open to internationalism, surrounded by birch and chestnut forests, an interesting place to stop: recharge your body and mind. So your vacation will have a different flavor! Here you will find only silence, nature and Oriental shapes.

While a bit far from Argentario, this experience will seduce you, regardless of if you love this kind of thing, or practice Dzogchen, or are simply interested in giving yourselves a day of something different and fascinating.
So what are you waiting for? Hop in the car and head to Merigar!
